What is a progressive education? With the new school year about to begin. What happened to my summer vacation?
Let’s explain some of the philosophy behind a progressive education.
The focus is to make school a place to discover. To explore and enjoy learning. Let us put some excitement into learning. Make it important to you. Something you will remember!
- Learn by doing: You really get to experience a hands on activity. You actually get to touch it!
- What is interesting to you matters: Whoa, that is a new idea.
- Work with others: Working with a group of classmates. This will show different forms of figuring out the answer. Teamwork is moving forward the way to learn.
- Thinking for yourself: It is not just learning just the facts. You learn to ask questions. Asking why is not a bad thing. You get to use your brain to come up with an answer and figure it out on your own.
What does the teacher get out of all this?

- There is a chance to concentrate on understanding. And come up with possible solutions to real world problems.
- Make it fun and interesting, you enjoy school in new ways.
- Hands-on projects where think for yourself. Figure out problem solving. And learn to be more sure of your ability to solve a problem.
- Activities involving teamwork. Learn cooperation and communicate with others.
